Johnny Depp: Why is he afraid of c-l-o-w-n-s?

Johnny Depp, we all know him for portraying different roles that required him to wore make-up. I have read that he is afraid of CLOWNS.

Fear of clowns is also called Coulrophobia. The term is of recent origin, probably dating from the 1980s, and according to one analyst, “has been coined more on the Internet than in printed form because it does not appear in any previously published, psychiatric, unabridged, or abridged dictionary,” however the author later notes, “regardless of its less-than-verifiable etymology, coulrophobia exists in several lists”.

According to him:

“it’s impossible, thanks to their painted-on smiles, to distinguish if they are happy or if they are about to bite your face off!” Depp went on to say, “there always seemed to be a darkness lurking just under the surface, a potential for real evil.” on an interview with with Australia’s Courier Mail newspaper.

Indeed, he made a good point. And the most remarkable thing about him is he is a real professional and great artists! Even if he is afraid of clowns, he still agreed to portray such roles like Captain Jack Sparrow, MadHatter, WillyWonka..

Indeed, one of the few celebrities who are worth idolizing. Johnny Depp, you’re the man!

  1. He will always be “the man” in my book. I truly love his acting and he is a man of many talents. Any time I see a movie with him in it, I know it’s going to be good. I’ve never been disappointed. Best always to him and his family.
